“LOCKED UP” EVENT

Have you ever thought about what it might feel like to go to the Juvenile Detention Center?

Here is your chance! The Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) houses on the average 24 young people ages 11 to 18. For some of them it has become a familiar place because they have been in multiple times. For others it is their first time.

The Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center is offering us a unique opportunity to spend 24 hours “Locked Up” inside their facility. What does this look like? Participants will be processed through like the young people are processed. Upon arrival, attendees will be issued JDC clothes. They will get a mug shot, then will be ushered to a POD where they’ll get a mattress, and bedding (No pillow). We will have this POD to ourselves. Our 24hrs will be spent with the Residents doing what they do.

When: Processed into the JDC November 14th at 1:30pm — Released on November 15th at 4:30pm

Where: 223 N Maxwell Rd. Peoria, IL 61604

Processes: To participate, fill out the form below. Once you are registered our JJM staff will reach out to you to provide JDC clearance forms and background check information. You will also be fingerprinted upon arrival at JDC.

Follow Up: Can’t stay overnight, but would like to hear from those who did? Join us for our See the Story event at JDC following the Lock Up at 4:00p. Register at hoiyfc.org/sts.
