HEART OF ILLINOIS YOUTH FOR CHRIST - INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
So you’re interested in an internship…
We love Interns! We believe strongly in raising up the next-generation of spiritual leaders. We believe an internship with Heart of Illinois Youth for Christ (HOIYFC) will have a lasting impact on the intern, on students and on our local Chapter. Because of this belief, we strive to provide a robust experience that is filled with both encouragement and challenge for each Intern. We will invest in Interns both spiritually and practically by providing opportunities for spiritual formation, leadership training and hands-on ministry-focused skills training.
Mission of Youth for Christ
YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.
We are rural and urban and we are always about the message of Jesus. Every day at thousands of community centers, high schools, middle schools, juvenile institutions, coffee shops, and local hangouts, YFC staff and volunteers meet with young people who need Jesus. Our focus as a movement is on multiplying fruitful and sustainable ministry sites across the nation and around the world.
An internship with Heart of Illinois Youth for Christ will give you an opportunity to discover & get involved in the full scope of YFC ministry here in Central Illinois. We hope you will consider joining our team for a 3-month Summer Internship or even a 9-month School Year Internship!
Next Steps
(1) Understand the Fundraising Expectations
Every employee of Youth for Christ participates in fundraising efforts. This includes our Interns. We expect each Intern to put forth diligent effort in faithful fundraising practices. We will commit to providing coaching and encouragement throughout the process. This coaching will be provided primarily by each Intern’s Site Director but also the HOI Team as a whole.
Base Pay
We pay Interns an hourly rate of $15/hour. The number of hours worked per week will be determined in conversation between the Site Director and Intern.
Fundraising Goals
Here is a breakdown of the various fundraising goals depending on hours per week…
Summer Internship
5 hours x $15/hour x 12 weeks = $900
10 hours x $15/hour x 12 weeks = $1,800
15 hours x $15/hour x 12 weeks = $2,700
20 hours x $15/hour x 12 weeks = $3,600
School Year Internship
5 hours x $15/hour x 40 weeks = $3,000
10 hours x $15/hour x 40 weeks = $6,000
15 hours x $15/hour x 40 weeks = $9,000
20 hours x $15/hour x 40 weeks = $12,000
Employee Benefits
We do not offer any employee benefits to Interns … other than the benefit of working closely with our Chapter. That sounds arrogant or boastful, but it’s not intended to be. We really do have an incredible team of employees at HOIYFC. We love providing an opportunity for an Intern to rub shoulders with a variety of leaders who are at different stages of their careers, from different educational & ethnic backgrounds and different life experiences. To be honest … we all benefit from being in the room together. And we would benefit from having YOU sitting around the table also!
Online Giving
Once you have been accepted as an Intern, we will provide you with a name@hoiyfc.org email address and an online giving page to use in your fundraising conversations.
